Amazing Grace

sea storm

The definition of a whisper is “something spoken softly in order to hide information or maintain privacy.”  Whispers come and go gently like the calm after a storm on the sea.

The enemy is sly.  He uses a gentle calm and reassuring tone in an attempt to comfort us, not because he is a comforter but because he is a deceiver.  He knows if he can tickle our ears with a whisper, make us “feel” good with what our humanness wants to hear, then he can convince our spirit to believe his lies.  It’s almost hypnotic.  But before we know it, we are in the midst of crashing waves in a stormy sea.  Satan’s whispers begin gentle, but they end in chaos.

We skirt the line of sin so closely that satan  can easily whisper into our ears.  We have allowed him to deceive us with murmurs of hearsay, fables, traditions, customs, laws, etc. ALL of these are LIES if they are not based on God’s Word. Of course, we’d rather believe what makes us “feel good” instead of the hard truth.  But a good temporary feeling based on an untruth is still a LIE.  If we believe it, we live it.  If we live it, we are living in the darkest storm. As a consequence we are blinded.  Eventually we are living in a sea of darkness and despair.   Meanwhile, Our Heavenly Father is on the other side raging a storm, doing everything He can to call us back to His truth.

We must accept and believe the truth and stop skirting close enough to satan to hear his whispers.  We must have our sight restored to escape the darkness of the storm.  Only then will the storm be calmed to the gentle and reassuring whisper of our God.

It’s ridiculous of us to want God’s light, His amazing grace, but not want our sight restored. God’s amazing grace rescues us from the storms that we cause when we listen to satan’s lies.  It doesn’t leave us living in those lies.

It’s incomprehensible to want to dwell in the midst of satan’s storms.  But that’s exactly how we live.  We are intrigued and want to believe what makes us “feel good”.   We want to remain in the dark where it seems easy, but it is temporary.  With the darkness and stormy winds of satan come the turbulent waves.  We must realize where there is God there is only light.  There is no darkness…  So in our blind and selfish need to believe satan’s whispers, where does that leave us?
